The Latest Update – This treadmill has now been discontinued. If you are looking for a good replacement, please check out our treadmill finder here.

Please Note – This machine has now been replaced by the Bowflex TC100.

The Bowflex TC 10 has been called the WalkTC or TreadClimber and is actually three fitness machines all in one. It is a stairclimber, an elliptical trainer and a treadmill all combined into one machine. It has two long pedals which are called treadles. These start out in the flat position but they can reach an incline of up to 40% and will support exercise that is incredibly efficient. You will find that with the TC10 you will be able to burn fat twice as well as you can with a traditional treadmill.

Other models that are similar to the WalkTC from Bowflex are the TC20 and the TC5. The simpler machine is the TC5. This one has a weight capacity that is lower and it does not use a power cord. On the other hand, the TC20 has more programming options, weight capacity that is higher and a warranty that lasts longer.

What We Like About TC10:

Goal Setting: Unlike the TC5 which is cheaper, the TC10 has a feature called Goal Oriented Coach. This is a feature that you can use to set weekly goals for up to 90 minutes of training and it will track the progress of one user. It also has a Climb Indicator. That means for every time you reach 100 feet you feel encouraged because the machine notifies you of your progress.

Efficient Workouts: A walker who trains on a steep incline is able to achieve the same results as a runner and can do this without the stress on ankle and knee joints. When you are running the TC10 at full tilt, you will find that you are burning fat at two times the rate as you would on a standard treadmill.

Space Efficient: The footprint of the TC10 is 50.6” in Length x 30.3” in width. It can be compared to the size of a compact treadmill. And you can easily move the treadmill to a different spot with its attached wheels.

High Capacity: This treadmill is able to hold up to 300 pounds and it weighs 185 pounds and has a steel frame.

Ergonomic console: This treadmill’s console will hold reading materials and a water bottle.

What We Do Not Like About The TC10:

No Extras: There are no perks on a Bowflex such as Internet connection or iPod port.

There Are No Preset Workouts: The TC10 does not come with a number of preset programs. It has a very simple console which will tell you how many steps you have taken, your distance, time and speed and how many calories you have burned. You will also be able to select from 12 settings for intensity and adjust the speed from .4 mph to 4 mph.

Lubrication Required: There is a small amount of lubrication that owners will need to do on a regular basis.

Assembly: Owners will need to do some assembly.

Short Warranty: This machine does come with a 2-year warranty on the entire machine. But, when you buy this TreadClimber at full price, the warranty seems to be lacking. There have been customers who have been disappointed when they find they only have six weeks to return the machine for a refund if they are unhappy.

Not For Running: Although most traditional treadmills are able to endure speeds up to 12 mph, the TC10 only has a top speed of 4 mph. If you enjoy running inside, you will probably like a NordicTrack incline trainer better.

Our Verdict:

If you are serious about exercising, the TC10 is a very good option. Whether you are an elite athlete or just a beginner, you will find that you get fast results and a challenging workout. From a space point of view, the TC10 is also a good buy because you will find that it gives a better workout than a compact treadmill. But, with the lack of entertainment features and built-in exercise programs, this treadmill might be a disappointment. Essentially, this is a treadmill that is designed for someone who does not want or need distractions to enjoy exercise.

If you are looking for extra workout motivation, you can try the Bowflex TC20. You might also look at NordicTrack’s incline trainers to get a good comparison. One of these might be a better value for you.
